Chef Taisho was extremely entertaining—dressing up as Super Mario, giving us smoky gunshot flavors, and having us take a photo with a giant toy tuna. We paid 13,200 yen per person for the premium course dinner. Each course was thoughtful and some had a fusion twist to it. I’ve never tasted a creamy carbonara chawanmushi until today. The courses were not exactly linear, but rather was a bit mixed and different in order from the provided menu. The couple sitting across from us ordered a higher tier premium (our was the most popular premium menu—more like mid) and was given slightly better uni and a bit of caviar topping on one of the dishes but it was really not a huge difference other than that. I wouldn’t pay an extra $40 for that. Food was a bit salty for my palate. Everything had a smidge more soy sauce than I’d prefer. One thing I was a little annoyed about was the Chinese man that was sitting diagonally from us was putting down the USA and I thought it was lowkey racist. All in all, I think it was the most entertaining omakase experience I’ve had, but I’m not necessarily in a rush to come back as I thought it was a tad expensive for the quality of food.
An enjoyable sushi experience, with an entertaining chef. There were lots of tasty courses and I left happy and feeling full even after going for the cheapest of the set menu options. The staff were all friendly and catered well to English speaking guests. I also didn’t feel out of place as a solo diner.
Seiki was our chef of the night. Super cheerful and happy to serve his customers. He helped to accommodate our palates as well. The staff’s service was great as well! We enjoyed the experience! Highly recommended for the price!
